Ian's research focuses on characterizing sub-micron airborne particulate matter that may carry heavy metals produced from mining Superfund sites and other anthropogenic processes to better understand the environmental impact on air quality and potential heavy metal exposures in New Mexico. His research interests are centered around geochemical, geobiological, and environmental interactions between the Geosphere and Biosphere in arid environments.
