My research focuses on understanding the paleoecology and paleobiogeography of Late Cretaceous mollusks (cephalopods, gastropods, bivalves) of the Caribbean-Gulf of Mexico region. This region is ground zero for the Cretaceous-Paleogene (K-Pg) mass extinction event, the last mass extinction so far. By understanding how was the environment and molluscan faunas before the impact, we could better understand our present biodiversity crisis and protect ecosystems.
