Previously I have worked on the triple oxygen isotope composition of mantle eclogite to evaluate their origins as ancient oceanic crust and subsequent evolution in the mantle. Currently, my research focuses on triple oxygen isotope signatures of modern terrestrial soil carbonate and its relationship to soil evaporation. Our modern calibration will help us interpret ancient pedogenic carbonate signatures that ultimately relate to hydrologic conditions between Earth’s atmosphere and the shallow soil subsurface in semi-arid desert regions over geologic timescales.
