Research Interests:

I study paleoclimate with an emphasis on stable isotope geochemistry. I have additional interests in soil geomorphology, low temperature geochemistry, and aridland ecology. My primary project is assessing carbonates in sediments gathered from Lake Chalco (near Mexico City). We analyze carbon and oxygen stable isotopes to ascertain shifts in past climate conditions, but we also compare these data with other proxies in order to try and establish a continuous, high resolution, and long-term climate record from a tropical locality. We like dirt. There’s a lot of information contained in lake sediments and we aim to uncover some of their secrets.
